Hardwood Grading, Cut & Stucture Explained

Moore Flooring can provide any cut possible for the style and look you desire in your home. We can help with grading and cuts, as well as the type of constuction that is needed for your house. Whether you have concrete or wood subfloors, we have options for you.

Standard Cuts

Here are the examples of Standard cuts for hardwood flooring. Each cut has its own look and benefits.

French cut

The french cut is unique. It resembles plain saw wood, but showcases character and more knots.

Choosing Solid or Engineered Flooring:

Moore Flooring offers both Solid and Engineered flooring options in pre-finished, unfinished and hand scraped products. Both flooring types are excellent options for ground and above-level flooring, depending on your sub-floor. Due to the differences in installation methods, engineered flooring is the best choice for basements and other spaces with concrete or other hard sub-flooring.

Solid

Solid Flooring consists of 100% hardwood planks that have been milled, kiln-dried, ripped, molded, graded, and finely crafted to meet our exacting quality specifications. Our selection of solid hardwood floors are a sustainable building resource and a beautiful addition to any home.

Engineered

Engineered flooring is the next generation of sustainable flooring. In an effort to extend nature’s precious resources we have created a line of engineered flooring designed to be environmentally conservative. Engineered flooring utilizes only 1/4 of the hardwood used in Solid flooring, preserving the same wear life as Solid flooring and extending the use of our hardwood resources. Our core is made from faster-growing plantation grown Birch. This allows us to increase the structural stability of our floors while minimizing the amount of hardwood harvested.

The cross grain construction of engineered floors provides inherent structural stability, and ensures decreased expansion and contraction due to temperature and moisture variations. Minimizing movement in each board results in an overall superior installation and will help preserve the beauty and integrity of your floor.

Reducing your carbon footprint means giving you the elegance you desire while taking only what we need from Mother Nature. When choosing Solid or engineered flooring, you choose beautiful flooring without sacrificing our environment.
